Metro is encouraging ‘every day’ use of the Route 85 Hospital Link service as a quick and affordable way to travel along the north west coast.
Metro acting chief executive officer Megan Morse said the service connected Burnie to Latrobe via Ulverstone and Devonport, with an end to end trip time of about 70 minutes.
“It operates 365 days a year, and on weekdays extends to the University of Tasmania’s Burnie campus,” she said.
Ms Morse said the service was anchored by providing easy access to the North West Regional Hospital and the Mersey Community Hospital for residents, but it also offered commuters, students and shoppers scope to connect with key activity centers right along the coast.
“Patronage on the service linking the hospitals had steadily grown since its introduction in September last year,” she said.
