On 8 March we celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) with eight women from across the Metro team attending an IWD breakfast to honour the achievements of local women and their impact on the Tasmanian community. The event also raised funds for the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation’s life-saving medical research projects.
Over 300 attendees had the opportunity to hear from special guest Christine Finnegan, CEO of the Tasmania JackJumpers, who shared her remarkable journey and extensive career in Australian sports.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. Find out more about International Women’s Day.
