Celebrating Launceston Bus Operator Deb Grace, Australian Bus Driver of the Year!

Metro is excited to celebrate our Launceston Bus Operator Deb Grace, who was named Australia’s Bus Driver of the Year at the Bus Industry Confederation (BIC) national conference held at Wrest Point in Hobart on 21 November 2024. This significant national recognition highlights Deb’s outstanding dedication and commitment to her role as a bus driver, a position she has excelled in for an incredible 25 years with Metro.

As Metro’s Launceston Depot’s longest-serving female bus driver, Deb is known for her exceptional approach to her job and her unwavering pride in providing excellent service. This award is a well-deserved recognition of her compassion and attentiveness to customers, often going above and beyond to ensure their safety and comfort.

Deb’s efforts don’t stop at just being a great driver – she has also trained many of Metro Launceston’s new driving recruits, helping them feel comfortable on the road and supporting them as they find their feet. She’s known for living our Metro values each day with her flexibility, care, and attention to detail, ensuring that every journey is as smooth and safe as possible for everyone on board.

In response to her win, Deb said, “I feel so honoured. It means a lot to me. I have enjoyed my 25 years, and to see all the hard work has paid off.”
