Metro Tasmania Pty Ltd is a state owned company established in 1998 that operates bus services in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.

Our vision is to be an attractive travel option which contributes to an integrated public transport network in Tasmania.

We currently have an opportunity for a Stores Officer to join the Engineering and Infrastructure Department in Hobart.  Reporting to the Stores Team leader you will be required to assist in the sound management of Metro stores.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Keep inventory control systems up to date
  • Organise the ordering, dispatch and delivery of  inventory including uniforms
  • Assist with the monthly and end of financial year stock takes for Hobart, Launceston and Burnie
  • Assist with the entry of inventory  line items into the workshop subcontracted work orders
  • Assist with the management and distribution of hazardous/dangerous goods in accordance with Metro’s safety practices and statutory regulations using Chem Alert
  • Conduct electrical testing to newly purchased equipment in accordance to the  AUS/NZ  Safety Standard 2010
  • Operate inventory/parts interpreting software and  micro fiche/parts manuals as required
  • Daily and monthly reconciliation of fuel stock
  • Processing accident claims, liaising with Metro’s insurer and accident repair contractor and loss assessor
  • Supervise the stores in the absence of the Team Leader

To apply for this role you should have a current forklift licence, and experience as a Stores Officer in a similar stores environment and have the ability to carry out manual handling tasks of up to 25 kilograms. You will need strong customer service and interpersonal skills, be a good team player and have well developed computing skills.
