Reporting to the Manager Finance and Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of the fortnightly payroll function in accordance with Metro’s three Enterprise Agreements. In 2020 the payroll function is a high priority for process improvement, and the Payroll Officer play a key role in supporting the Payroll Supervisor in developing and implementing enhancement enhancements to the full payroll function as part of this continuous improvement program.
To excel in this role you will be a self-starter, with a can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail, a problem solver who is willing to take on any task necessary. You will have demonstrated in a practical sense:
- Experience with payroll processing in a high volume environment that includes, processing of salary and wages transactions featuring a range of variables under an Enterprise Agreement, superannuation, Single-touch payroll, entitlements, terminations and salary sacrifice processes.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience using payroll systems and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Understanding of the Australian legislative requirements governing employment, including ATO requirements, Workers Compensation reporting, the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and Modern Awards.
- Capability to provide high level customer service in resolving payroll enquiries from employees in a timely and accurate manner.
- Experience in using CHRIS21 will be advantageous.
