Metro is a state-owned company that provides efficient and safe public passenger transport bus services across Tasmania.  For over 70 years Metro have played an important role in the lives of many Tasmanians, enabling them to maintain their connection to work, family, community and essential services.  With a diverse, skilled and passionate workforce of approximately 500 employees who delivered more than 6.9 million passenger journeys in 2021-22, Metro has a number of exciting strategic projects ahead, including zero emission buses and improved ticketing, that will ultimately improve the customer experience and operational performance.

About the role

We are building a team of capable and talented people in People and Safety.

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor is a full time, permanent role responsible for supporting safe operations and promoting our safety culture across Metro.  Primarily this involves partnering with key stakeholders across the business to drive safety and wellbeing improvement programs and initiatives as well as supporting the team on key deliverables such as reporting, incident management, risk assessments and maintaining our Safety Management System.

About you

The successful candidate will have current and relevant experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of broad range of work health and safety functions including wellbeing strategy and initiatives, work health and safety systems, legislation and regulations, investigations and incident management.

You will be a team player who contributes proactively and positively within the team and across the organisation.

This a state-wide role and you will be required to travel to our depot and satellite yards across the greater Hobart area, Launceston and Burnie.

Finally, to be successful you must satisfy pre-employment checks before taking up the appointment.  The following checks are conducted:

  • Police check
  • Medical assessment
  • Drivers licence (travel required).
