Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager People and Safety leads and manages Metro’s Human Resources and Work Health & Safety and Environment functions, and contributes to the achievement of Metro’s corporate plan goals. This role is pivotal in providing strategic advice, with a focus on ensuring Metro has an engaged and productive workforce to support the delivery of passenger transport services.

You will work closely with your team and internal stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to ensure transport services provided by Metro are customer focused and reflect our commitment to ‘put safety first’. Your leadership will help the business make the most of its human capital, fostering innovative practice across business systems and processes.

As a member of Metro’s Executive Management Team, you will also be responsible for implementing our broader strategic agenda, and fostering the consultative culture which underpins our performance and success.

To excel in this role, you will have senior management experience, and a relevant tertiary qualification. You will have demonstrated your capacity to build relationships and work effectively across the business, and to develop and implement agreed objectives at executive level, resulting in positive outcomes.
