Join the team at Metro Tasmania – Put Your Career in Motion

About the Opportunity
At Metro, our vision is to make the journey better for all Tasmanians.
Our bus drivers are at the heart of our journey to connect communities and enhance the public transport experience. If you’re passionate about customer service and like the idea of an ever-changing office view, we want you to join our team.

About you
Can you drive a car?  We’ll teach you to drive a bus!
If you’ve had a current, full Australian driver’s licence for at least 2 years and you have full working rights in Australia, our six-week, paid training course will teach you all the skills you need – and at the end you will graduate with your Medium Rigid licence.

We will also organise and pay for the following to get you on the road:

  • A National Police Check from Tasmania Police.
  • Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
  • A pre-employment physical assessment, including a Drug and Alcohol test.
  • A Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) licence.

About Metro Tasmania

As the largest Tasmanian-owned passenger transport company, Metro’s mission is to deliver safe, reliable and efficient bus services.  We have a diverse team of more than 500 employees across the state who work hard to deliver around 7 million passenger journeys each year, and over 9 million service kilometres.

What’s in it for you?

  • Be a part of a passionate and energetic team
  • 6-weeks paid, extensive training to set you up for success
  • Free Metro bus travel and employee parking
  • Exciting opportunities for career progression, growth and up-skilling
  • Access to free annual flu vaccinations, discounted health insurance, corporate gym memberships and other wellbeing initiatives.
  • The ability to work within a proud, Tasmanian company with a diverse and inclusive working environment

Don’t have a medium vehicle licence yet? No worries... You’ll start your career at Metro with 6 weeks of paid, extensive training to get your medium rigid Metro licence.

We welcome applications from all community groups and backgrounds and encourage you to apply if you meet the criteria, no matter your age or gender.
