The Department of State Growth recently undertook additional consultation on bus services across Northern Tasmania, in response to feedback received following the January introduction of the revised Launceston and Northern Tasmania public transport network. The Department has used this feedback to implement some further enhancements to the new network that are designed to ensure bus services across Launceston and surrounds meet the needs of local communities.
For services operated by Metro, the following changes will take place from Sunday 5 July 2020:
ROUTE 122: Waverley & Ravenswood to Mowbray Shops
This trial route was originally due for review in January 2021 to determine if demand for the service was sufficient for it to continue. Due to the impact of COVID-19 on travel behaviours, DSG has opted to extend the trial for an additional twelve months to January 2022.

ROUTE 147: Ainslie Grove to City via Kings Meadows & Hospital
As a result of community consultation, DSG will trial the operation of inter-peak services on this route, as well as formalising the relocation of the terminus from Ainslie Grove to Normanstone Rd so as to improve access to the aged care facilities in this area. Additional inwards services will depart Normanstone Rd at 9.55, 10.55, 11.55am, 12.55 and 1.45pm. Outwards services will depart City Stop A1 at 10.20, 11.20am, 12.20 and 1.20pm.

ROUTE 151: North Riverside (Cormiston Rd) via Trevallyn

ROUTE 152: Reatta Rd via Dandenong/Delungra Rd – NEW ROUTE
A new trial route will commence operation to provide additional coverage in the more elevated parts of Trevallyn. The inwards service will commence from Coulter St at 9.42am and travel via the New World Ave and Dandenong-Delungra Rd loops to the City, terminating at Brisbane St Stop D1 (Kingsway). The afternoon service will depart York St Stop C1 at 2.30pm and terminate at Reatta Rd at 2.50pm.

ROUTE 165: Prospect Vale via Summerhill & West Launceston
Consultation found that most people in these communities were in favour of bus services travelling via the Launceston General Hospital, as opposed to Bathurst and Wellington Streets. Consequently, route 165 will be re-routed to travel via Charles St and the Hospital. An updated timetable will be available for this route soon.
Bathurst St between Frankland St and Elizabeth St, and Wellington St between Elizabeth St and Howick St will no longer be serviced as part of the general access network. Please note that Route 167 via Hillside Crescent remains unchanged.
