MAIB Nightrider – the easy way to get to and from New Year’s Eve celebrations

MAIB and Metro are combining to offer people a safe and convenient alternative when planning travel to and from New Year’s Eve celebrations in Burnie, Hobart, and Launceston.

MAIB Nightrider services will operate throughout the evening on major bus routes.

$2 Flat fare offer

Just $2 will buy you a single-trip ride on any service from 6pm to 3am. Passengers using their Greencard will be charged a normal fare. Student tickets will be available at the normal fare.

Services in Burnie

Normal weekday vacation services will operate through the day and into the evening.

MAIB Nightrider services will commence from late afternoon to get patrons to the City and foreshore celebrations.

After the family fireworks from about 10pm and again after the midnight fireworks, services will depart from the Cattley St interchange.

Routes 40/50: Shorewell Park and Upper Burnie

Services in Hobart

Normal weekday vacation services will operate through the day and into the evening. Extra MAIB Nightrider services will be provided on major routes to get patrons to City and waterfront celebrations.

Extra buses will depart for all major destinations after the family fireworks from approx 10pm, and again after the midnight fireworks.

From 10pm, most buses to the eastern shore and northern suburbs will commence from special bus stops in Salamanca Place (near the Supreme Court), then proceed to the Hobart Bus Interchange. Buses to southern suburbs will depart from Franklin Square then make a stop in Davey Street at the top of Salamanca Place.

Eastern Shore

Routes 615-635: Rosny Park – Clarence St – Shoreline

Services in Launceston

Normal weekday vacation services will operate through the day. MAIB NIghtrider services will be provided from about 6pm on key routes to help get patrons to city celebrations.

Extra buses will depart for all major destinations after the family fireworks from approx 9.30pm, and again after the midnight fireworks.

From 9.20pm, buses to most destinations will commence from a special bus stops in Paterson St outside Royal Park, then proceed to the Launceston City interchange and follow normal route.
