Hobart: Gagebrook/Herdsmans Cove Service Early Termination

HOBART: routes 522, 530, 696 and X30

EFFECTIVE FROM: Tuesday 4 June 2024

Metro continues to work closely with Tasmania Police to monitor and respond to rock throwing incidents in the Gagebrook/Herdsmans Cove area to ensure the safety of our drivers, customers, and fleet. Pleasingly, due to current safety measures we have seen a reduction in incidents over recent weeks. With the support of Tasmania Police, from Tuesday 4 June 2024, Metro will adjust measures for East Derwent Highway services to allow limited access to Gagebrook until 7:15pm.

This means that the Route 522 will commence and terminate at Cove Hill Fair after 5:00pm. From 5:00pm routes 530, X30 and 696 will commence from the bus stop after Riveria Dr on the East Derwent Hwy and terminate at Gage Rd South opposite the United Service Station. The 7:45pm Route 530 OUT (Monday – Friday), which will still terminate at Riviera Drive, Old Beach. If you are looking to travel north of Old Beach, we recommend catching route 520, X20, 522 services to get you as close to your destination as is possible with these restrictions in place.

If further rock throwing incidents occur, Metro will need to again reduce services to prioritise the safety of our customers and staff.

Please note that there is a slight adjustment to scheduled service departure times, as follows:

MONDAY TO FRIDAY

Inwards

Route 530 departing Cove Hill Fair at 5:05pm (Mon-Fri) and 6:15pm (Mon-Thurs) will instead start from East Derwent Hwy / Riviera Drive at 5:26pm (Mon-Fri) and 6:36pm (Mon-Thurs).

Route 522 services departing Sattler St Gagebrook at 8:44pm, 9:43pm (Mon-Thurs) and 10:43pm (Fri) will instead start from Cove Hill Fair at 8:58pm, 9:58pm (Mon-Thurs) and 10:58pm (Fri)

Outwards

Route 530 departing Glenorchy at 4:45pm, 5:45pm, and 6:45pm (all Mon-Fri) will instead terminate at Gage Rd South opposite the United Service Station at 5:08pm, 6:08pm, 7:08pm and 8:08pm (Mon-Fri).

Route 530 departing Glenorchy at 7:45pm (Mon-Fri) will instead terminate at Riviera Drive, Old Beach. 

Route X30 departing Hobart City at 4:52pm, 5:24pm & 6:21pm (all Mon-Fri) will instead terminate at Gage Rd South opposite the United Service Station at 5:27pm, 6:01pm & 6:53pm (Mon-Fri).

Route 696 departing Rosny Park at 4:33pm (Mon-Fri) will instead terminate at Gage Rd South opposite the United Service Station at 5:17pm (Mon-Fri).

Route 522 services departing Hobart City at 8:10pm, 9:10pm, 10:10pm, 11:10pm (Mon-Thurs) and 12:10am (Fri night) will instead terminate at Cove Hill Fair at 9:06pm, 10:06pm, 11:04pm, 12:04am (Mon-Thurs) and 1:04am (Fri)

SATURDAY

Inwards

Route 530 departing Cove Hill Fair at 5:24pm will instead start from East Derwent Hwy / Riviera Drive at 5:45pm.

Route 522 services departing Sattler St Gagebrook at 7:37pm, 8:37pm, 9:37pm and 10:37pm will instead start from Cove Hill Fair at 7:54pm, 8:54pm, 9:54pm and 10:54pm.

Outwards

Route 530 departing Glenorchy at 4:59pm and 5:59pm will terminate at Gage Rd South opposite the United Service Station at 5:18pm & 6:18pm.

Route 522 services departing Hobart City at 6:10pm, 7:10pm, 8:10pm, 9:10pm, 10:10pm, 11:10pm and 12:10am will instead terminate at Cove Hill Fair at 7:11pm, 8:05pm, 9:05pm, 10:05pm, 11:05pm, 12:05am and 1:05am.

SUNDAY

Inwards

Route 522 services departing Sattler St Gagebrook at 5:43pm and 6:43pm will instead start from Cove Hill Fair at 6:00pm and 7:00pm.

Outwards

Route 522 services departing Hobart City at 4:10pm, 5:10pm, 6:10pm, 7:10pm, 8:10pm and 9:10pm will instead terminate at Cove Hill Fair at 5:10pm, 6:10pm, 7:10pm, 8:06pm, 9:06pm and 10.06pm.
