Work on the new Bridgewater Bridge has entered a new phase, commencing 13 June 2024. This will affect both Granton and Bridgewater sides. This affects how buses travel through the area. More information on the Bridgewater Bridge Project is available here. There will be further adjustments to these routes between Monday 30 September to Friday 11 October 2024 due to road closures.
Please note that while Metro is working with the Department of State Growth and Bridgewater Bridge Project Team to minimise the impact on our customers, there may be delays of 10-15 minutes to services travelling through this area. This can lead to flow-on effects for other services in the southern network. Please allow extra time when planning your travel, particularly during peak times.
Changed Traffic Arrangements – Bridgewater
Outbound: Instead of travelling on the Midlands Highway, buses will now use a new section of road after exiting the Bridgewater Bridge that forms part of Old Main Road. Buses will use the Midland Highway/East Derwent Highway roundabout to turn and proceed south on the Midland Highway using the same exit as services currently use to turn onto Gunn St.
Inbound: Buses will travel to the junction of Gunn Street and Nielsen Esplanade, then turn right onto the new alignment of Gunn Street, then turn left at the new intersection with the Midland Highway.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to additional road closures, between Monday 30 September and Friday 11 October 2024, stop 50 Gunn Street (inbound and outbound) will be closed.
Please check our Trip Planner for up-to-date information.
Changed Traffic Arrangements – Granton
Inbound buses: From the Bridgewater Bridge buses will continue on the Brooker Hwy to connect you with a new roundabout. Buses will travel via a new section of road (see above map) which connects with the existing temporary roundabout on the Brooker Highway, then onto Main Rd to continue as normal.
Outbound buses: From Brooker Highway in Granton, buses will turn left at the temporary roundabout and continue left onto the new section of road which becomes Main Rd and continue as normal.
Please check the Trip Planner for up-to-date information.
